Why live stream your wedding?

When someone special is unable to attend your wedding, it can be heartbreaking. But fear not, this is 2021 and if you are unable to be at the wedding, we can bring the wedding to you. There are a lot of reasons why family cannot attend weddings in 2021 and the most popular reason is due to the pandemic. Fear not, we have some tips to help you get started with live streaming your wedding.

Should you stream your wedding?

Well this depends on your exact requirements. If you have a need to stream your wedding then this guide is for you. Some reasons may include having family overseas, or family that cannot travel to your wedding for many other reasons.

Live stream your wedding yourself or use a professional?

This is a very good question. The answer to this depends on a lot of factors. The first is price. Can you afford a professional to live stream your wedding? If yes, then I would recommend that this is the best way to go. If you would just like to casually stream then you can also stream using an mobile phone to Facebook.

To live stream the wedding yourself you will need:

  • Someone to operate the live stream
  • A tripod and video light
  • For indoors weddings, the inbuilt microphone should be fine. But for outdoors weddings I would recommend purchasing an external mic to assist.
  • Sufficient data and cellular coverage on the mobile phone
  • At least 2GB of mobile data per hour of streaming required should you stream in HD quality
  • A battery pack or a phone that can stream for over an hour

Advantages of using a phone for a liver stream:

  • Cost effective
  • Easy to setup (mostly)
  • Most phones can be used
  • Stream directly to facebook

Advantages of using a professional live streamer:

  • Early setup and testing of the live stream equipment
  • Can stream to multiple platforms
  • Can add a countdown timer
  • Creates a private web page for your guests to bookmark
  • High quality video
  • High quality audio from the sound desk
  • Multiple camera angles
  • Site visit beforehand to check upload speeds on LTE networks or onsite WiFi.
  • Professional setup with wireless HDMI transmitters to avoid using many cables. Also a back of house cover is used to make the setup as neat as possible.

The choice you choose will depend on what your requirements are. It is a good idea to speak to your partner to go through the details of the day to decide on what option you would like to use.
